The Covid-19 pandemic struck at a time when the digitally connected world had already made it possible to transfer many professional and cultural activities into the virtual sphere. Modern technology was also used to mitigate the impact of the pandemic: from apps that notify users of potential risk encounters to the mass usage of data from technological giants, with states reliant on citizen mobility data collected by Google.
Can the pandemic be dealt with at all without using modern technology? Or have we breached another set of fundamental rights and given up on more important things?
